Topology in Shallow-Water Waves: A Violation of Bulk-Edge Correspondence

We study the two-dimensional rotating shallow-water model describing Earth's oceanic layers. It is formally analogue to a Schr\"odinger equation where tools from topological insulators are relevant. Once regularized at small scale by an odd-viscous term, such has well-defined bulk index. However, in presence of sharp boundary, number edge modes depends on boundary condition, showing explicit violation bulk-edge correspondence. continuous family conditions with rich phase diagram, and explain origin this mismatch. Our approach relies scattering theory Levinson's theorem. The latter does not apply infinite momentum because analytic structure amplitude there, ultimately responsible for violation.
